Center for Community and Public Safety

Our Mission
Penn State Fayette's Center for Community and Public Safety is an academic and continuing education unit that provides first responder, governmental, industrial, and corporate programs and services.

CCPS Services

Curriculum Development:
2004-present: The CCPS developed the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency-Act 44 (Constable) Statewide Curriculum.

2004-present:  The CCPS developed and delivers training to municipal law enforcement personnel in Rapid Deployment techniques and procedures.

Web-Based Course Development:

2004-present: The CCPS has developed the Less-Lethal Weapons: Policies, Practices, and Technologies Online Certificate Program for civilian law enforcement. More information about this program can be obtained by clicking on Less-Lethal Weapons Online Certificate in the menu to the right.

2004-present: The CCPS has developed the Non-Lethal Weapons: Policies, Practices, and Technologies Online Certificate Program for active/reserve military personnel.  In January 2009, CCPS updated the Non-Lethal Weapons Certificate Program to Version 4.0. The new release includes many new video interviews, animations, updated course content, and a new course structure. Resource and Information Management:
The CCPS serves as the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's Western Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Crime Prevention Resource Center.

The CCPS is developing curriculum "Introduction to Underground Coal Mining" for distribution to high school students in Greene County, Pennsylvania, supported by funding from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (PA DCED).

Conferences, Workshops, and Institutes
In November 2008, the CCPS conducted the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's Act 44 Annual Instructor Update Conference.

In October 2008, the CCPS conducted the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's Statewide Crime Prevention Conference.

In May 2005, the CCPS hosted the First Annual Non-Lethal/Less-Lethal Weapons Seminar featuring keynote speaker Commander Sid Heal of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
