Human Development & Family Studies: Bachelor of Science

Life Span Human Services Option

The Human Development and Family Studies program helps you prepare for a career in which  you look forward to helping others and contributing to a stronger community, and where you daily make a difference in the lives of others. The nation's elderly population is growing, single parent families are increasing, and greater numbers of children are in child care. These trends create high demand for HD FS graduates. The program provides an understanding of the whole person over the life span, in different contexts and cultures. Graduates of the HD FS program find careers as active, dynamic, and versatile human service professionals. For those already in the field of  human services, HD FS degrees provide opportunities for further advancement.

Graduates of the Human Development and Family Studies program at Penn State Fayette are professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in their communities. The baccalaureate degree provides excellent preparation for master or doctoral level graduate study in social work, the social sciences, or health sciences. The baccalaureate degree enables students to enter the job market immediately prepared to use the skills acquired with their degree.

Bachelor of Science Degree in HD FS -LSHS Option

Penn State Fayette's HD FS baccalaureate program, Life Span Human Services Option, addresses human development in communities with an applied emphasis. Students learn theories of human development over the life span. Through internships and research projects, they acquire knowledge and skills relevant to career objectives in the social services, such as counseling, program planning and assessment, research methodology, and computer applications.
